'Surfs Up'

Katherine says - The moment I saw these papers I knew the photo I was going to use with them – it is from our holiday in France and the kids having a go at body boarding (which the adults had lots of fun with too).

1. I cropped and mounted the photo on some white card, and doodled a black rectangle around it. I cut two sections of the Hibiscus paper out, and inked and ruffled the edges. I then stitched both of these pieces so they were ready for mounting on the card stock.

2. I cut out some surfboards and other elements from both papers.

3. Next I bubble wrote the word surfs – though you could find a font and print it on the computer or equally use any old stickers up for this. I cut out the letters and stuck them to the page with repositionable glue. I mixed my acrylic paint to match the orange in the papers as best I could and then put a thick layer across the title and a little bit below. I then watered down some of the acrylic and did some paint splatters with my brush.

4. I peeled off my letters and then drew around the outline with a black gel pen once all the paint was dry. I also added the My Little Shoebox mini alpha for the word up and I stitched across the 2 letters.

5. I then started sticking my pieces down, starting with the papers behind the photo, and I added a strip of orange lace to the edge. I placed the surfboards on the other side of the photo and used 3d foam to add some height to the middle board. I also layered up the little tag strip in the bottom left hand corner.

6. I threaded some orange buttons onto a piece of string which I stapled on either side of the photo. My stapler is only a short one, so for the bottom 2 staples I made small holes and pushed the staples through myself and bent the arms back. I then added a little journaling to the side.

Mini Punched Flower

Cut little Vs on each side of the petal to make them into more of a daisy shape 2. Do this to 2 flowers (though you could use more and make them even more 3d) 3. Curl the edges of the flowers to give them some more shape – a cocktail stick works well for this 4..This is what the flower should look like after the curling. 5. Make a small hole with the tip of the scissors in the centre of the flower and then push the brad through. Arrange the petals, pull up the petals on the top flower to give some more dimension. Katherine said - I haven’t scrapped with Websters Pages before, the papers are beautiful I ummed and ahhed over what photo to use and came up with this one from my brothers wedding.

When I do LOs I tend to start layering and cutting out bits, but don’t stick them until I have to, which means I can work out which bits of paper won’t be seen and how far I need to edge a circle – just so I can conserve as much lovely paper as possible especially if there are elements I want to use somewhere else on the page.

I mounted my 6 by 4 photo on some cream cardstock and cut around it with scallop edge scissors, I then drew a black dot in each scallop.

I used the frame Framed Beauty paper and a kitchen saucer (16cm diameter) to cut the circle out of the blue area of the paper, I inked it with tea dye and ruffled the edge with my nails and fingers. I then punched out 5 Martha Stewart butterflies, and inked the edges with tea dye. I cut them in half and edged the top half of the circle with them. I used my sewing machine to do a double row of stitching around the circle – I find you need to re-ruffle your paper after stitching as it goes a bit flat.

I cut a variety of frames from the Framed Beauty paper to sit behind the photo, and one for the title. Apart from the title one I inked with tea dye and ruffled the edges and lined them up behind the photo.

I cut a piece of cream card for my journal spot, inked it with tea dye and then used the prima butterfly vine stamps to make a border around the edge. I added my journaling and put the pin through and a button threaded with string on top.

I cut a 1 inch strip of cream paper, and used the Martha Stewart scroll lace punch along the edge. I inked the edge with broken china distress ink and then folded the strip of paper to gather it and make it a little more 3d, I then added some of the pompom ribbon on top and placed underneath the photo
Having lined all these pieces on the page (but not stuck them down) on the die cut sheet I could work out where to start my stitched swirls. I drew them on in pencil first and then used a pin to punch holes, then rub out the pencil lines and then stitch with green thread.

I made some quilled roses – the large one is made from a 12” by 0.5cm strip of paper, and the smaller ones are 6” long strips. You don’t need a quilling tool – you can make them by wrapping them around a cocktail stick, the tutorial is HERE but there are lots out there. The smaller flowers I made by using a small 6 petal flower punch.
I placed the flowers on the stitched swirls and then started sticking down the rest of the pieces of paper.
The title I printed on the computer – I used a font called MP peony and printed it out on white paper – made sure I got the right size and then stuck my Websters piece of paper over the top of the word ‘Dreamer’ with a repositionable glue and printed the title onto my rectangle – I used a light to line it all up and make sure it was straight. Then peeled it off and used it on my LO with some foam pads.
The finishing touches were to put on the blue rose button, and I added some prima butterflies in the top left corner (I just inked the part of the stamp I wanted rather than all of it)
Then put the die cut sheet onto some bazzill cardstock

Fashion Diva

is the title of the gorgeous LO Emy designed using Prima Rebellious Papers and Paintable Cardstock. If you have ever fancied a go with this now is your chance.

“Fashion Diva”

You will need:

Prima Rebellious papers

Cosmic shimmer spray
Bamboo skewer
Glossy accents (or similar strong glue)
Prima Say It In Pearls and Crystals - pink

My starting point for this layout was the Prima Rebellious paper “Destructive” but I wanted to use both sides at the same time. I wanted to use one side as my background and the frames on the other side as a background for my title.

I got around this by cutting out pieces from the background and then covering up the gaps with strips from other papers.

I used a square from a Prima paintable paper, which I partly coloured in to match the Rebellious papers.

The paper rolls were made using a border strips piece of paper, rolling each strip around a bamboo skewer and gluing the end in place. I used different lengths and widths of paper strips to add variety to the rolls.

I coloured the chipboard letters using Cosmic Shimmer Mist and layered up the frames as the background.

No fashion based layout would be complete without some bling, so I cut up the crystal and pearl swirls and placed them around the page.

Happy Birthday card with water distressed flowers

You will need:

· I started making the card by making my own water distressed flowers. I love this technique as it is really effective and only essential equipment is paper, scissors and water.

· Cut out 4 wobbly circles and then snip into the edges to make the petals. Wet the cardstock and scrunch up the circles. Gently open them up again and leave to dry.

· When the card is dry, ink the edges of the flowers and then stack up the flower. Add a button in the centre.

· The card was finished with a paper frill and a birthday banner held in pace with a pin.

· So I’ll start with a confession… this is the second attempt at this page. I made one page with this photo and title and I just didn’t like it. I’m learning that I love texture on pages and my first attempt was too flat.

· I added texture to this page by putting some folds into the lace border before stitching it to the page. I also stitched the circles in a line and folded up the sides to add more dimension. This layering could remain in an album if adhesive foam pads are used behind the circles.

· I painted all my chipboard elements with white acrylic and then inked with a pink ink pad. I also inked the edges of the scalloped circles, kraft doilies and border punch strips. I used buttons as flower centres.
